Yes, it's true. We're moving back to Perth, Real Soon Now (like, in one week). Crazy, I know. What happened is this: I'd been finding the fun and enjoyment factor of my work steadily decreasing since mid-2006, and, since we moved to Mordor primarily for work, we started to consider moving back. An unsolicited job offer from a Perth-based startup back in November made this option even the more tempting. But we were sitting on the fence, unable to make up our minds. We have made a lot of good friends in Mordor, and our apartment, in Glebe, is ideal. We love the lifestyle, and we didn't want to move back so soon. That all changed on Australia Day, when our landlord called to inform us that the owners wanted the apartment back for themselves. So, rather than planning to visit The Shire for CNY as planned, we rapidly came to the conclusion that we should respect the fact that Fate had made the decision for us. I quit my job, accepted the offer in Perth, and we've been organising everything to enable us to make the move back next week. Incredible!
