So, we've entered the tantrum phase, and it's hard work. Eliza recently decided she doesn't want to drink milk anymore, and there's no way anyone is going to trick her into doing so. What's more, she's learned to say "no" when she doesn't want something, "up" when she wants to be held, and "more" when she wants you to sing another verse of the song you've been singing for the last three hours. Failing to immediately comply results in ear-piercing shrieks, red face, streaming tears and a finale of Throwing Oneself On The Floor And Flailing About. And this happened overnight, as if a switch had been thrown. D. and I feel like new parents again, not knowing what to do, and not getting enough rest. Of course, all toddlers go through this stage, and it's probably something to do with beginning to be expressive through language, and feeling frustrated. But it was still a shock to us. A bigger shock yet came last night while D. and I were having dinner. Eliza had been put to bed, but she was being cranky, and we decided to leave her for a few minutes before trying to settle her again. Well, she started the whole screaming routine, but we were resolute. Oddly, her screams seemed to move, and suddenly she was at the door to her room. She'd somehow managed to climb out of her cot! Little scallywag... gave her parents the fright of their lives!

We're Back!

As reported on Doi Bong, we've returned to find Eliza has been as good as gold during our absence, and was only slightly cranky when going to bed tonight, which is probably more due to new teeth being cut than any lingering fear that her parents plan to leave her overnight again (we tell ourselves). We had a great time, and we're glad to be back with our little girl (although we do miss calling nanny and grandad for the daily "Poo Report").
